Insurance Agent

Location: Lakefield, MN

The Insurance Agent will generate insurance sales by identifying current and potential clients’ insurance needs and selling current and potential clients insurance products through in-the-field sales calls. Maintain a productive insurance office.


  • Prospect for new clients and cross-sell opportunities with existing clients.
  • Sell insurance products through in-person sales calls with current and potential clients.
  • Communicate with current and potential clients by telephone, direct mail and email as an adjunct to in-person sales calls.
  • Conduct account reviews with current clients.
  • Work flexible hours to service client needs and achieve production goals.
  • Prepare monthly production and activity reports.
  • Conduct marketing or promotional activities in support of individual sales activities (e.g. prospecting outside of the office, presenting at seminars, attending networking / social events and hosting booths at local events).
  • Obtain referrals from current clients and centers of influence, in addition to generating referrals for United Prairie Bank and United Prairie Financial Network.
  • Work cooperatively with insurance markets to obtain desired coverage terms and conditions.
  • Prepare and review documents and forms required to bind insurance products.
  • Ensure proper processing of clients applications, renewals, endorsement and claims.
  • Compile and update client lists and databases.
  • Attend required training and continuing education programs regarding insurance products and financial and insurance regulations.
  • Attend UPB and UPIA events.
  • Ensure all required insurance license lines of authority are kept current.
  • Abide by UPIA’s policies and procedures and all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Project a positive image in the community.
  • Abide by all policies, procedures and regulations of UP.
  • Review, acknowledge and comply with all end user security requirements stated in the Information Security – End User Policy and Statement of Understanding.
  • Utilize all communication tools available including, but not limited to; UPLink, email, and instant messaging.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned by your supervisor and/or management.

Job Specifications:

Have a strong knowledge of insurance products. Keep abreast of insurance law changes, policy coverage changes. Work flexible hours to service client’s needs. Have the ability to communicate to clients with varying knowledge of insurance products.

Job Qualifications:

  • High School degree required. Four (4) year bachelor’s degree in Business Finance or Marketing desired
  • Previous insurance experience preferred or related sales experience
  • Must have MN Property / Casualty and / or Life, Accident & Health Insurance License
  • Occasional day travel may be required for training/meeting purposes
