Flood of 2024 -  Flood Relief & support information

We are thinking of all those affected by the recent flood waters across the Midwest and our area. Many local governments have begun efforts to gather information in an effort to attain additional support for those who have had losses. Be sure that you are keeping track of your costs by saving receipts.

There are a number of organizations and local entities who have begun to offer cleaning supplies and debris drop-off sites.

Here are links to Facebook and website pages for a number of local entities who are offering support and seeking information from those affected:

PLEASE BE WARY OF SCAMS

It's an unfortunate reality that scammers will try to take advantage of disaster situations.  Be cautious of unsolicited texts, emails, calls and even in-person visits from organizations who claim to be officials or from groups designated to help you with financial assistance. Only provide your personal information to a trusted and verified resource when the appropriate time comes if you are eligible for assistance.  It's best to check with your local government entities to validate any representatives who are asking you for personal information.

It's okay to ask for identification and it's okay to take someone's information to give you time to validate they are legitimate or not.

Scam Reminder! With the holiday season upon us, scammers often ramp up their efforts. Remember that United Prairie will not call you to ask for your account or personal information. The best rule to follow is that if you did not initiate a contact, hang up or call back to a phone number you are sure of.  Follow your gut. If someone is pressuring you for information or to take action, it's okay to say no.
